Yes, Hollywood is becoming the new “study abroad program” destination for college students who are from the South and East coast of America.
These programs work just like overseas programs:
- Students travel to a foreign place
- There is often a culture shock when they arrive in Hollywood
- They stay in university-affiliated housing with the other students
Students then get to take acting, screenwriting and film classes from the people who know it best. They even get a chance to be involved in apprenticeship and internship programs working on real Hollywood sets with real Hollywood actors, writers and directors.

Joining a semester abroad program in Los Angeles is a great opportunity for students who may not be able to afford a semester abroad in a foreign country.
It costs the same as a regular semester at college and you get to see just what makes Hollywood the “Holy Grail” of the entertainment industry.
