Morocco Transportation Options
Morocco is a bustling country with many ways to get from one city to the next.
- One of the most common and cheapest modes of transportation is the bus. Every city and town in Morocco has bus stations. The main problem is that a lot of people ride the bus, so finding an empty seat may be difficult to do.
- Taxis are another way to travel between cities in Morocco. You can choose between a tiny “petit” taxi, which is economy-sized and color-coded by city, or you can choose a more expensive “Grands” taxi, which can fit up to five other passengers in it with you.
- Morocco also has a train system that is very modern and clean, but the trains only travel to specific locations. If you choose to ride the train in Morocco you should make sure that it goes to your destination city.
- Mopeds are everywhere in Morocco! That’s because they are easy to ride and zip in and out of traffic. If you decide to rent a moped stay out of busy traffic and don’t speed!

Moroccan currency is known as the Moroccan Dirham, or MAD. It is divided into 100 centimes.
Here’s what you need to know about the Dirham:
- Coins = 1, 5, 10, 20 santimat, ½, 1, 2, 5 and 10 dirham
- Bills = 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 dirham
