Roger Williams University (RWU), a liberal arts college located on New England’s coastline, recently announced that it will be expanding its “Passport to Your Future” Program, which waives passport application and photo fees, as well as postal service handling fees, for students that are taking part in a study abroad program.
The purpose of this new expansion is to encourage international travel for students and to broaden the array of students at the university.
About the Passport to Your Future Program
Although studying abroad is an amazing experience, it’s not necessarily the cheapest thing to do. There are many students that don’t get to study abroad because they can’t afford all of the fees. Luckily there are study abroad scholarships, grants and fellowships to help with finances, and now RWU is waiving passports application fees and other fees as an added bonus to students.
The Passport to Your Future program was originally created in 2006 for RWU sophomores, but it is now available to all eligible RWU sophomores, juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher. To show its dedication to students studying abroad, the university even had an open house from September 22-24 where post office members helped students through the passport application process and took passport photos.
Here’s a cool video that talks about the Passport to Your Future program:
Currently 1/3 of all RWU juniors and seniors participate in study abroad programs in 42 study abroad locations in 29 countries around the world.
