Thanks to a college grant funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Academy for Educational Development, a group of south Asian students from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan will have a chance to experience life in Washington state.
Hosted by Green River Community College, this 5-week program will offer the south Asian students to learn about U.S. history, government, institutions, economy, society and culture. It will also focus on the roles that leadership and responsibility play in American society.
Green River Community College is one of six institutions where the south Asian student association members get to learn about American life. Other institutions include:
- Southern Illinois University, Carbondale
- University of Minnesota
- University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
- University of Alabama, Huntsville
- Nazareth College
The main goal of the study abroad program is to create a better understanding of American culture for students from other countries, and to make it exciting for students to join study abroad USA programs.
