If you’re about to graduate from college and you haven’t had a chance to study abroad, then the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship may be the answer for you. The Watson fellowship is a one year college student grant offered to seniors that are about to graduate from an accredited university. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is available to students who may not have otherwise had the chance to travel abroad.

Here are some other details about the Thomas J. Watson fellowship:
- Graduating Seniors - To be eligible for the Watson fellowship you must be eligible to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from a participating institution, and you must graduate before you being your fellowship.
- Participating Institutions - You can see a list of participating institutions here. You must be nominated by one of these in order to apply for the fellowship.
- One Year - The fellowship lasts exactly 12 months, and in that time foreign nationals may not return to the U.S. or their home country.
- Travel Outside the U.S. - During the 12 months of the fellowship you cannot return home, and you must avoid countries that are under U.S. State Department travel warnings or U.S. Treasury embargo.
- Independent Study - Each fellow is in charge of his or her own project, so they do not affiliate themselves with a university, do not spend the 12 months in a training course, and do not volunteer abroad and work abroad.
