If you’d like to study in Asia for a summer or fall study abroad program, then the Philips Ambassadors scholarship program is for you. Twice a year students are chose for this special ambassador program, and this year 22 UNC-Chapel Hill undergraduate students from Raleigh were the recipients.
What is the Philips Ambassadors Program?
The Philips Ambassadors program is a college scholarship program offered through study abroad programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and Kenan-Flagler Business School. Its main goal is to raise awareness of Asia both on and off college campuses. Here are some other interesting facts about the ambassador program:
- Scholarship winners are chosen based on their academic achievement and commitment to activities, service and leadership roles in the classroom and surrounding community.
- The Phillips Ambassadors can choose from 54 UNC-approved academic programs in Asia.
- Students who accept the scholarship agree to publish a piece about their studies in Asia for a campus or hometown publication.
- Recipients also give an outreach presentation about their experiences in Asia to a school in their hometown and other local schools around North Carolina, introducing more young people to Asia.
- There are 15 programs to study in China and 10 to study abroad in India.
- Students receive up to $7,500 each for a semester or year-long program, and up to $5,000 each for a summer program.
Congratulations to the UNC Chapel Hill students. We hope they have a fabulous trip to Asia and their host countries.
